  • Lawrence Harris Waukegan (2023)

The hometown kid had a solid showing in the SimpsonElite Runs. Harris showed he can score the ball inside the paint when he does his work early and he has good hands to catch any type of pass. Harris was defending and brining energy once the 1v1 drills started, he didn't allow anyone to get a mental edge and that is what made him tough to defend and score on. Harris does a really good job running the floor and filling lanes for easy layups and put backs. I think if he focus more on rim running for open layups and put backs, he can easily average 12 points and 5 rebounds off of hustle alone. Waukegan is in the rebuilding stage, this upcoming season will be a step in the right direction.

  • Gianna Black Warren (2023)

Black has great size, good mobility and the speed to blow pass defenders. Black showed numerous of times at SimpsonElite Runs that she knows how to use her body to shield off defenders from stopping her. The returning Senior is a forward who does pretty much everything you need from a great player. She rebounds, create for her and others, can defend 1-4, can make open shots and does the little things. Black showcased her defensive abilities by capping off 3 steals reading the passing lanes and taking the ball full length to finish with a score. Black can score on all three levels. She has great hands to catch the ball in the paint and has a great feel around the basket to finish with either hand. The senior ability to step out and hit jump shots is what will free her up for more opportunities to score. Im looking forward to seeing how Black step into the leadership role at Warren this upcoming winter season.

  • Dontrell Graise is fun to watch !

The 6'3 Wisconsin native will be attending Tremper high school for his final season. He is a walking highlight reel. When you speak about athleticism, right next to it should be a picture of Graise. With his solid ball handling, spot up shooting, this kid hops is what's going to get him noticed. Each chance he got, he tried to tear the rim down with ferocious dunks and it looked so easy as jumps nonchalant. In the SimpsonElite Runs, Graise put on a display of scoring the ball from anywhere on the floor. With his size and athleticism, Graise was able to secure a few rebounds which finished with multiple put backs. He made a few good moves off the bounce, in which he did a pull back at the foul line, shot a one legged shot off the glass and it went in. At the next level Graise will play the shooting guard to wing position, so I look forward to seeing him put the ball on the deck more and defending at a high level since he does have great size and he's very long.

  • Is Oliver Gray the next big thing?

Gray is considered to be one of the top players in the class of 2026. The 6'3 incoming freshman has a lot of hype surrounding him especially playing summer ball with Mac Irvin Fire and rightfully so. Ive seen Gray score 30 points+ in numerous AAU games, the kid dominates his level and I think he's ready for the next level. Gray has yet to scratch the surface of what he could be, but playing against varsity level guys at SimpsonElite Runs, he's shown a lot of promise. Gray can flat out score the ball at will. The 6'3 freshman has the ability to shoot the ball with the best of them, and that is what separates him from the pack. One thing I noticed at the runs was Gray's frame, he's small but he adjusted very well to the physicality that was thrown at him and he held his own. The guard showed a lot of poise and I was very impressed that he's not easily rattled. Gray is becoming more confident in his ball handling ability and once he start hitting shots off the dribble at the varsity level, its going to be scary for opposing teams. You can find Gray playing summer ball at Limitless and Mac Irvin Fire.

  • Orlando Magic Admiral Schofield, Shifting Gears!

Aaron Simpson here with SimpsonElite Media, I was able to catch up with Orlando Magic Admiral Schofield via text. Schofield recently signed a two-way contract with the Orlando Magic. He will split time between Orlando and Lakeland, the teams NBA Gleague affiliate. Schofield had a great summer in Chicago. Spending his time working on his game with Bas at the Attack Center where the NBA combine use to be held. He had some great moments at the DenardBros Pro Run and holding his own in the Chi-League against Chicago legend Jabari Parker. As far as NBA Vegas Summer League goes, Schofield was able to lead by example by, communicating, brining his energy and just showing the younger guys how to be a professional on and off the court. Ive asked Schofield a bunch of questions and he had this to say. 1. Being called up from the Gleague in December when the covid outbreak sidelined dozens of players. You were one of the few players who stuck a 2 way deal later that season. What does it mean to you that the Orlando Magic see you as a future piece? -Schofield "Its a very rewarding feeling to know all the little things outside of making or missing shots has created opportunities for me to be in this league and to be with an organization that values what I bring on a daily is more rewarding then anything!" 2. With playing 2 years in the NBA and getting game time mins last year with the Magic, how did you attack the off-season, and what was your approach as you’re working on your game in the summer? -Schofield "Off-Season is about fine tuning details in your game , playing pick up and adding 1-2 new skills that can help perfect your role in the league. Shooting the 3 is a big skill in the NBA so making 500 3’s a day in the off-season is a good gradual pace to improve your shooting! As camp gets closer you wanna ramp things up but be mindful of being fresh for the new season!" 3. Has there been a vet in the league that took you under their wing and kind of showed you the ropes? -Schofield "Yes when I first got in the league Brad Beal took me under his wing and taught me the basics of being a professional on and off the floor. Not everything is about scoring 20! Perfecting your role will raise your stock quicker rather then trying to show all you can do. Fitting in is important to extending your career." 4. To stay in this league, how critical is it for you to be a good locker room guy and how conscious are you about it? -Schofield"To stay in the league you have to be a great locker room guy. That might be the fastest way to get out of the league is if you cause problems in the locker or on the bench." 5. With the length of Gary Harris, Hampton, Banchero, and yourself, how good defensively can you guys be/and where do you rank in the East? -Schofield"The Sky is the limit for us we are young but we have a great staff that’s been teaching us how to win at this level. With the roster talent we have I don’t see why we can’t make the playoffs this year and be a top 8 team in the East!" 6. In what ways do you see yourself impacting the Orlando Magics roster? -Schofield "I see my self impacting the roster this year by being a Much improved 3 point shooter elite on and off ball defender for the Magic this year and most importantly bringing energy and making energy plays!" 7. With the addition of Banchero, did you give him any advice on how the NBA works and or the business side, and what part of his game shocked you the most? -Schofield "We have had some of the same talks that Brad used to give me in Washington. But Paolo’s a Great young man and he has a great team of people around him that are guiding him well! The part of his game that is really impressive is his IQ and ability to score! He can make some really good passes and can get to the rim with the best of them." 8. What are some goals you set for yourself, this upcoming season? -Schofield" I want to up my percentages from 3, my goals is to be a 40% 3pt shooter avg a little more points but most importantly really make an impact on the defensive end! I really want to show more of who I am in my role this year!" 9. What Artist get you hyped before games? -Schofiled "Lil Baby, Future, Lil Nudy, Jay z, Drake, Young Thug" 10. If you could be any animal in the world, what would it be and why? -Schofield "If I could be any animal in the world i’d be a lone Wolf mainly because I stay in my lane and stick to what makes me great!" 11. What is some advice you can give to high school seniors that aren’t getting recruited going into their last season in highschool? -Schofield "The best advice I can give you is outwork them, and when I say them I mean everyone. most times we get caught up in just our competition in the county or state when you have a whole world your are fighting against to get one opportunity! So outwork the next man everyday so when your opportunity comes you are ready to be successful!" You've heard it here first on SimpsonElite Media that Schofield is ready to impact this upcoming season for the Magic's on both sides of the ball and that he feels, the Orlando Magic will be a top 8th team in the East. Will this be true? We won't have to wait no longer as the season is around the corner.

  • Kharee Farr Lutheran(Racine) 2025

Farr was a standout in my book at SimpsonElite Runs, and it had nothing to do with scoring the ball. The 5'9 sophomore held his own coming into an environment he knows nothing about and playing with kids he never seen before. The Wisconsin native came ready to get after it. The kid is tough, hard nose, and plays with a lot of grit. He took on the ownership of wanting to guard the top point guards in the state such as Yaris Irby and he took on that challenge. Farr handles the basketball with the best of them, can shoot the three a little bit, and plays off two feet which is something lacking when you're watching high school basketball today. I expect to invite Farr to more runs in the future to see his development.

  • New York Knicks Jalen Brunson Ready For More!

Aaron Simpson here with SimpsonElite Media, I was able to catch up with Jalen Brunson who joined the New York Knicks in the offseason. Brunson is looking to help build the franchise to bring its excitement back to Madsion Square Garden. Brunson had a great offseason with playing with teammates in the Nike Pro Am, Rumph Classic, and playing at well known LifeTime Sky in New York alongside J Cole. Jalen Brunson had some spare time in his day and I was able to ask him a few questions about the upcoming season, his music choice and more! 1. Did you see yourself being a max player in year 5? Can you describe the hours and work you put in the summer to be in this position? Brunson- "I see myself being the best player I can be and strive for that every time I step on the court. I put in the work as often as I can throughout the summer and it leads me to be confident when I play in games. My confidence comes from my work ethic." 2. What did Jason Kidd do for your play style? Is he a player coach and what is special about Kidd coaching style? Brunson- "Coach Kidd enabled me to be myself. He coached me to be better and expected the best of me. Whenever he was able to teach me how to better he jumped at the opportunity and I responded." 3. Pick up ball with JCOLE, talk about that experience and the environment surrounding that gym, it’s become a very focal point in summer runs for NBA talent. Brunson- "Playing with JCole was a pretty cool experience. The gym has a knack for bringing talent around to play some good summer basketball." 4. Seeing how you played a few summer pick up games with Julius Randle and Obi, how important is getting that team camaraderie early before the season start? Brunson-"Playing with some of my teammates this summer was key to jumpstarting our chemistry before training camp started." 5. Everyone talks about contract you received and talk about expectations for you and your team, how do you block out the noise and what are YOUR expectations for this season? Brunson-"I focus on myself and my goals. I have team goals and individual goals that I try to acheive, so any publicity good or bad can steer you off your path. Keep your routine and keep your mindset." 6. Other than Justin Bieber LOL, what other music are you listening to before games? Brunson- "Of course JB, but I listen to Drake and Jay-Z. I love to switch it up time to time but I gravitate towards those artists." 7. Being the focal point of a big time franchise like the Knicks and playing point guard FULL time, what are some things in your game or routine that you will have to change or NOT change to gear up for a full 82 game season? Brunson-"My routine will stay the same. My role may change or I have to add certain things to my routine but I keep it relatively the same." 8. How do you feel about the in season tournament? Brunson-" I think the in season tournament can be great for the game and for the fans to enjoy another aspect of the NBA. " 9. Walk us through that Jazz Series, what did you see or what did the defense give you that made you so effective in that series, and how amazing was it to shine in the biggest moment in basketaball, in the playoffs Brunson-"During the Jazz Series, Coach Kidd had a game plan and we stuck to it. We wanted to play together, put each other in situations where we could succeed and stick to it. We never lost confidence and he made sure we didn’t." 10. With yourself, Julius, Obi, Barrett, Evan, Quickely and Drose, where do you guys stack in the East? Brunson-"We expect a lot from each other most importantly, we want to be the best team we can be by the end of the year. That will involve us being accountable and being mentally strong." 11. With you being the focal point on the offensive end, does anything change for you? Are you more aggressive? Getting teammates involved? Or nothing changes? Brunson-"Nothing changes for me. I am going to be me, the same person I always have been." 12. Your first playoff experience didn’t end the way you wanted but your play was tremendous. Do be in the conversation of “Total points in their first two playoff game starts”. It is you at 65points, Lebron at 58 points and JORDAN at 53 points. How does it feel to be mentioned amongst the greats? Brunson-"That’s an impressive stat to be apart of, but I’d rather be a champion." You've heard it here first on SimpsonElite Media, Jalen Brunson isn't the kind of guy who is driven off individual accolades, its clear that he wants more, he wants a championship. Brunson has won on all levels except the NBA, will Brunson get an opportunity to hoist the Larry O'Brien Trophy? Stay tuned!

  • Izaiah Diaz 5'7 Waukegan(2023)

Diaz is a small combo guard who plays the game the way a coach see fit. Diaz isn't flashy but his understanding of team first mindset is what keeps him on the floor. Diaz has a great sense of spacing the floor, timely cuts, and moving with a purpose. He has a feel for the game that comes naturally to only a select few, two dribble pulls, using the correct footwork techniques, fundamentals, making the one more pass, or making open shots. Diaz does a great job of keeping the ball in front of him and leaving space between him, man, and ball to create that five second count. He isn't afraid to pressure the ball full court and he's a talker, who gets everyone else going.

  • Sean Reynolds Dekalb (2025)

Reynolds is a fearless competitor, plays the right way and a big game performer at the guard position. He is a high percentage three point shooter with limitless range and the defense have to respect it which creates driving opportunities. Excellent shooter in the catch-and-shoot game. The sophomore see the floor very well for a young player, he doesn't have a lot of ball usage but he does a great job taking care of the ball and handling ball pressure. His footwork is something I paid attention to and I know a lot of his shots are open because of his mechanics. Coming off DHO's(Double Handoffs), pin downs and off ball screens. The footwork all looked the same, foot was planted, reverse pivot, sliding down to the corner or being the lift guy, Reynolds understand timing and spacing, and these things translates to the next level. Reynolds also compete on the other side of the ball which is going to be something to see him get better at, once he learn how to do his work early, it is going to be hard to keep that kid off the floor. I look to see Reynolds drive more as it opens up more shooting opportunities for him or teammates.

  • Kyla Smith Carmel Catholic (2023)

The 5'6 guard is a decorated complete player who can do it all. Kyla Smith showed every skill set she has at SimpsonElite Runs. Smith put the gym on notice with a MVP effort of dropping 28 points. Smith has a nice handle, can shoot a set shot, or off the bounce, she made the tie winning basket with a pull up three that sent the game to OT. What impressed me most was her ability to make acrobatics layups with either hand, it was a show to watch. Smith has quick feet which helps with her lateral movements when defending on ball. She is a pest on the defense and is not afraid to dive for a loose balls. With college coaches praising Smith ability to start the break off a rebound and taking it full court for a finish was pretty much how the run went. Smith is in her Senior season at Carmel Catholic High School, I'm expected a break out year for the senior guard.

  • Mariah Phelps peeking at the right time

Mariah Phelps 2024 is peeking at the right time. The Warren transfer who made a huge impact on a young Warren team was forced to be a leader once team star Zion Levy went down with a crucial injury. Phelps pulled in a few games in double digit scoring in just her sophomore stint. The 5'9 combo guard plays at her space and can not be sped up. The smooth lefty is seen as a deadly shooter and a playmaker. She was recently called up to play on the circuit with Mac Irvin Fire, who is known to be the most competitive team in the state of IL. Phelps started training with SimpsonElite 2 years ago and she's already developing at a rapid pace. She loves to work and love to get better. Our goal this year for Mariah is to be nominated All County team this upcoming high school season, is she ready for that pressure? I think so.

  • Sharp Shooter in Kenosha, WI

The 6'1 shooter Camren Simpson from Kenosha Christian Life drained in 3 threes from NBA range during SimpsonElite Runs. The kid is a high volume shooter, with opportunities to take shots comes responsibility in making shots and he is that guy. He has a good lift on his shot with a pretty form, but needs to focus on shooting off the bounce a little more. The senior had a solid showing with creating off the bounce for others and getting himself involved. He showed flashes of what he can be when he drove the ball hard to the rim with an acrobatic shot that rimmed out but his aggressiveness allowed his team an opportunity to score the ball which is what coaches look for in players.
